Miami is one of the world's great resort cities. Having experienced several booms, Miami seems always to have attracted the rich and famous. And, when wealth and celebrity move into a town, they're soon followed by grifters, scam artists and hustlers. In the '60s, problems facing the Miami police escalated. Racial tensions made the city a powder keg waiting to explode. A policeman cruising the streets was always on the lookout for any signs of confrontation. And the Miami police faced a wide variety of crimes - from gang violence and muggings to a rampant drug trade. But, through it all, the Miami police did their duty, often behind the wheel of a 1966 Ford Fairlane. Available as a six- or eight-cylinder model, the Fairlane was aggressive in appearance, and it was popular among police departments all across America.
